Shortly after I was brought onto the product team at SpiderOak, we began a pivot from a chat app to a file sharing product called Share. Because the product is not yet available to the public, I’m limited in what I can discuss and show here.

Though my role at SpiderOak encompasses a whole lot more than UI design, below are some examples of the visual side of the product. Being one of two designers for the startup—and coming into the role without a previous design team—there wasn’t much established in the way of processes or design consideration. In the 14 months we’ve been in this pivot, we’ve built a design system for the product and created our own design processes that fit with our Agile workflow. I advocate for design decisions daily across all squads, plan our sprints, and manage the workflow while also executing the design, prototyping our work, and documenting our decisions and details about the UI—all while working closely with engineering to ensure things are properly implemented.
